Blog #1: Ask Probing and Powerful Questions – Prospects and Team Members
by RedHen
Whether you are working with a potential customer for your products, speaking with a prospect about the business potential, or working with a team member, asking probing, powerful questions is a habit you’ll want to engage in regularly.
Why?
The more you know about people, the more effective you will be in finding a need and filling that need — which is what successful Network Marketers do!
Here are some example questions for Potential Customers:
✔️ Do you use XX products/services?
✔️ What is your favorite brand and why?
✔️ What is most important to you about this product?
Here are some powerful questions to ask Business Prospects:
✔️ What is most important to you in a business from home?
✔️ Based on what you have seen and heard, what do you like best about our business/company?
✔️ How long have you been looking for a business?
✔️ When will you be ready to start your business?
✔️ What questions do you need answered?
✔️ Do you have some understanding of what it takes to build a successful business in our profession?
Here are some questions for your Team Members:
✔️ What is your goal for your business this week (or month or year)?
✔️ What methods are you using to work your business?
✔️ What are your 5 top action steps for this week?
✔️ How can I best support you?
The bottom line with any of these is that questions get a person engaged. They show that you are interested in creating a win-win for both of you, and not just about getting the person to sign up.

Blog #2: Can the Average Person Be Successful in Network Marketing?
February, 2025
Have you ever wondered what it really takes to be a Star in Network Marketing? Is it possible for the average person?
Are there secrets to success that you don’t know about? Does it seem too hard? Are you thinking of giving up on your dreams of a great lifestyle and freedom from financial stress?
Let’s talk about these two questions – What does it really take to make it in Network Marketing, and is it possible for the average person?
First of all, what it takes is a few key skills and actions. These are easy to learn and do, and at the same time, easy to not do.
They include the following:
Learning the SYSTEM your company uses to share your products and opportunity. Use this system – if it’s working for those who are making money, it will work for you, too.
✔️ Make your active PROSPECT LIST and always be adding to it. Use a memory jogger so you think of people who you otherwise wouldn’t. If you must, start a separate list that is your “chicken list.” If you really want to grow your business fast, start with THAT list, and watch good things happen!
✔️ Develop some “SCRIPTING LANGUAGE for success” and plan/know what you are going to say. Make it brief, let them know why you thought of them and are calling, ask them if they would review some information on your business, and then set a time to get it to them and a time to follow up. Use the tools your company provides you to do the heavy lifting. Then follow up at the time you stated.
If you will commit to doing this process just twice a day, five days a week, then duplicate it with your team – you will have amazing success!!
Which leads us to the next question – can the average person do it? The average person CAN – but WILL they?
If you look at most top income earners in any company, you will find that they are very average in background and talent, but way above average in the quality of their commitment and willingness to take consistent action.
DON’T BE AVERAGE – GO FOR IT! BE THE STAR THAT YOU ARE in NETWORK MARKETING!

Blog #3: Personal Growth Creates Business Growth
March, 2025
If you’ve been involved in Network Marketing for a while, you have most likely heard the phrase “Your business will grow when YOU grow.” And it’s a very true statement!
You must build belief to be successful, and belief is the area people struggle with most. The lack of belief—either in themselves, network marketing as a profession, or their company/products—is what stops many people in their tracks. Sometimes they quit before they even get started!
It’s what holds us back from making one more phone call when that person we were sure would be interested tells us no, when your new distributor doesn’t do anything, or when a team member drops out of your business.
Here are a couple of simple ideas for you to begin a personal growth journey and also expand it to your team:
✔️ Make it a goal to read a book each month on personal growth or network marketing (preferably with success stories included). Challenge your team to read it, too – even start a group book discussion on a team call, team Facebook page, or at the local coffee shop.
✔️ Turn your car into a traveling university with audio CDs that inspire you to greater belief in network marketing and in yourself.
✔️ Attend events and bring your team. Maximize what you learn there by doing a live or virtual teaching afterward for people who could not attend.
Teaching others will build your own belief and confidence, and you’ll be helping others grow at the same time.
These three simple steps are a great start to your journey to success through personal growth. Pick one and start right now!

Blog #4: Don’t Let Objections Throw You
April, 2025
When you are first getting started in your MLM business, it is easy to let other people’s objections throw you. Here are some ideas to help you better understand what is going on and how to deal with it.
First, understand and respect the value in what you have—what you are offering in terms of a great business opportunity and your products. If you have your own doubts about your product or about network marketing, they will show up one way or another. It is not unusual for a prospect to actually verbalize the doubt or concern that matches the one you are carrying in your head!
Work through your own doubts, gain confidence, and you become unstoppable. You don’t need anyone’s approval except your own.
Second, think through the most common objections and create some answers that feel comfortable to you, and just be prepared. Listen first, and then answer without becoming defensive. Never make assumptions—if you aren’t sure what they are saying, ask for clarification.
For more specific training on answering the 4 most common objections in network marketing, listen to the replay of my last webinar on Following Up that included a whole section on this topic!
To access the replay, go to http://iteleseminar.com/71810076
Third, always let your prospect know upfront that you will not be offended if they decide this is not for them. Tell them it won’t hurt your feelings and you won’t harass them by attempting to change their mind. This takes the pressure off them, and they are then more open to your presentation.
Finally, always remember that objections are a normal part of the process—so expect them. If prospects don’t have any concerns or questions after your presentation, it means they aren’t likely to want what you have! Change your mindset about objections and watch your confidence and success rate grow!

Blog #5: The Fortune is in the Follow Up
May, 2025
One area where most new network marketing professionals (and more than a few not-so-new ones) drop the ball is in follow-up. Yet this skill is critical to your short-term and long-term success! Many of us never follow up—we assume that if someone isn’t interested today… right now… they are never going to be.
Nothing could be further from the truth! Look at these statistics and you’ll quickly see the importance and power in following up:
✔️ 48% of salespeople never follow up with the prospect.
✔️ 25% of salespeople make a second contact and then stop.
However:
✔️ Only 2% of sales are made on the first contact.
✔️ 3% on the second.
✔️ 10% on the fourth.
✔️ And 80% of sales are made somewhere between the 5th and 12th contact.
Seriously—80% of sales occur between the 5th and 12th contact! Do you follow up with everyone at least five times? Would you commit to twelve times?
If you KNOW the statistics are stacked in your favor, what would stop you from sending a card, making a phone call, or emailing your former and potential business prospects every few months? They don’t even have to be focused on prospecting!
Just keep in touch and keep your name and business in their mind. That way, when the time is right for THEM, YOU will be the one they think of and want to do business with.

Blog #6: The Power in Just 2 Prospects a Day!!!
June, 2025
Wouldn’t you agree that anyone who is serious about their business can talk to two people a day? How would this change your business success?
It doesn’t matter what company you are with, what product you represent, or how new or old you are in your business—people are the lifeblood!
The power in just talking to two people a day about your business or your products is staggering! It may not seem like much that day (or it may seem like a ton), but at the end of the month, you’ll have talked to 60 people. If you’re doing things correctly and keeping in mind the needs of the person you’re speaking to, you’re going to have success to report at the end of that month!
Consistency in this business is CRITICAL!
If you are feeling overwhelmed and as if you are struggling, stop for a minute and determine what your five most important action steps are each day and each week.
Certainly, talking to two people a day would move you forward if it’s on your daily action list!
This could be calling two people about hosting a party for you, or calling two people to ask, “Who do you know who loves XYZ Products and might want to earn some extra income?”
Who do you know who wants to earn extra income in their own business?
Try it, see what happens, and let me know your results!

Blog #7: Where Are Your Prospects?
July, 2025
People who might be right for your opportunity are everywhere, but contrary to what you may have heard, not everyone is right for your opportunity. If you go into the game knowing that there are many reasons why not everyone will be interested in your business, you’ll save yourself a lot of grief, and it will be easier to accept that a “no” has nothing to do with you.
First, let’s identify who your target market is:
✔️ Current Customers
✔️ People who already use your type of product
✔️ People who have been involved in Direct Sales before
✔️ Retirees
✔️ College Students
✔️ Stay at Home Moms
✔️ People who are talking about making extra money
✔️ People who are well connected
✔️ Your warm market list of people who you know
✔️ Referrals from those who you know
✔️ People you meet while out and about!
Here is the key – it is a must that you notify everyone about your products and your opportunity, and then see who raises their hand with interest. Your job is not to convince, bug, or harass.
Your target market is those people who are looking for what you have. You won’t know until you offer and ask. Simply take the step of offering and asking each day, and you will grow a customer base and a distributor base.

Blog #8: Simple Scripts to Introduce Your Business
August, 2025
One of the things that stops people from making their list and then actually contacting people about the business is fear of what to say… Here are a couple of simple ideas to break the ice. Remember, you aren’t a professional salesperson — you are simply sharing information.
“Hey John, I have started a new business from home, and if it’s okay, I’d like to send over some information for you to review so that you’ll know more about what I am doing, in case you come across someone who might be a match for my business. Would that be OK?”
No pressure here. Just asking a question. Try to avoid saying anything about your business that is specific unless you are asked. This will keep curiosity high for when you drop off or send him that information.
And, at any time, should your warm market contact express a desire to know more, you’ll take him or her right through the 3-step system (outlined in my previous blog post). Stick to the tools.
“Hey, John. I’m a dot-com now. I’ve started my own Internet business. I’d like to give you my website. Would you take a quick look and, in case you run into someone who might be right for my business, I would appreciate any referrals.”
What your friends, family, and acquaintances do after the initial introduction is up to them. And don’t worry about the outcome. Get busy making that list and contacting them, and you’ll have plenty of people looking at your business.
Whatever you do, don’t trash your reputation by continuing to call, cajole, or beg your friends to take a look. Be a professional and you’ll get professional results. Follow up casually every 3 to 6 months, because people’s lives change and you never know when the time is right!

Blog #9: A Three Step System For Sponsoring
September, 2025
Successful sponsoring into your Network Marketing business is simplified when you have a three-step system to follow. A three-step system is simply having three, pre-determined steps in mind for how you are going to guide your prospect through your company overview.
This way, you always know what the next step is, and you can let your prospect know as well. Plus, a three-step system is simple and duplicatable. Someone exploring your business will know just what will be expected of him or her if they join, and will have a clear track to run on.
A three-step system may look like this:
✔️ Step 1
Call prospect or meet in person and direct them to watch your company videos about your product(s) and overview of the business plan.
✔️ Step 2
Invite the prospect to a “second look” webinar or conference call with one of the company leaders, or invite them to a live group meeting to get more details and hear success stories.
✔️ Step 3
Follow-up phone call or 1–1 meeting to answer their questions, do a 3-way call with upline leader, and get signed up.
Keeping it simple is the heart of duplication, and duplication is what drives a successful network marketing business. It should be easy for you to develop a three-step system that fits with your opportunity. Check with your sponsor or upline if you need assistance. Then take action and start sponsoring and building your team!

Blog #10: 3 Steps to Building Your “Plan B”
October, 2025
Today, virtually everyone should be building some type of “Plan B” business that can be started without a large investment and built over time. This just makes good business sense given the times we are living in. This is for those of us who chose network marketing as our Plan B.
Here are 3 steps for getting your Plan B started with Network Marketing, from my book, “License to Dream” (can be ordered from Amazon or my website at www.judyohiggins.com).
STEP ONE: Choosing Your Company
Do your research carefully and choose a company that fits you and whose product(s) you love. You will be representing this company and using the product(s) yourself for several years, so choose wisely!
Answer these questions to help you choose:
✔️ Do I truly know and believe in my heart that the product will benefit every person’s life that I share it with?
✔️ Is there a genuine need for the product(s) in the marketplace?
✔️ Will I have to compete with other companies offering something similar?
✔️ Can this product be bought at a retail store for less than my company’s price?
✔️ Most important of all, would I use and love the product(s) even if I were not going to get paid to tell others about it?
✔️ Is the company financially sound? What is the “culture” of the company?
✔️ Is the CEO committed to the company long term or just looking to make it successful and then move on?
✔️ Are the top management passionate themselves about the product(s)? Do they have field experience themselves in the network marketing arena?
✔️ Do they put the needs of the distributors at the top of their list? Do they have shareholders they answer to? What is their plan for future growth?
STEP TWO: Having the Right Mindset
It is critically important to understand that, just like in any business, you need a 3–5 year plan to achieve the success you desire. Network marketing is NOT a “get rich quick business,” just as if you started a Dunkin’ Doughnuts or Subway franchise, you would not become wealthy overnight. This is a mindset issue that is imperative to develop so you can avoid the trap of discouragement and quitting too soon.
Develop a business plan and be willing to be coached by those who are already successful. Very few people in business of any type succeed totally on their own without support and a mentor. Treat your business like a business — not a hobby — and over time it will pay you like one!
Understand that there WILL be many challenges and times you feel like quitting. The road to network marketing success has detours, potholes, and bumps in the road. Make a commitment that you will never quit on a bad day!
STEP THREE: Have a Long-Term Vision for Success
Finally, have a long-term vision for success. Develop a dream book or vision board that spells out exactly what you are looking for. Give yourself permission to dream big and write your dream down in detail. Put photos that represent your dream of what you want from your business near you as a visual and emotional reminder of why you are doing it.
Set some goals and timelines for achieving them, and work steadily toward accomplishing that. Try setting 90-day goals and working in 90-day cycles for success. This will give you the ability to do a fair analysis of what is working and adjust for the next cycle until you reach your goals.
